IAF officer tests positive for Zika virus in Kanpur – World Latest News headlines

An Indian Air Force (IAF) officer has tested positive zika The virus in Kanpur district, health officials said on Sunday, is already in the process of contract tracing and monitoring the health of people around as per the protocol laid down by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Chief Medical Officer Nepal Singh said the 56-year-old IAF officer was admitted to an Air Force hospital a few days ago with some health problems including fever and kidney ailment. The patient’s blood sample was sent to the National Institute of Virology (NIV), Pune for further examination after unusual symptoms were found in the case.

The NIV on Sunday confirmed that the patient had tested positive for Zika virus.

Samples of 22 more people who came in contact with the patient and his family members have also been sent for examination.
