When Ravindra Jadeja took over the reins of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) from MS Dhoni, all eyes were on the all-rounder as to how he would handle the responsibility. The start was not ideal for Jadeja as his team lost their first three matches in IPL 2022. Notably, this is the first time that CSK have lost their first three games of an IPL season.
Though Jadeja’s captaincy is just three matches old, his leadership has started attracting opponents. While MS Dhoni, at times during CSK’s matches, was seen adjusting the ground and making changes to the bowling, Jadeja’s role as captain is being questioned.

Former India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh feels Jadeja needs to take more responsibility as a captain.
“I think MS Dhoni is still the captain of the team. When I see Jadeja, he is fielding outside the ring. By doing this you will not be able to control a lot of things but he has given MS Dhoni a headache to see the setting of the field and everything,” Harbhajan said on Star Sports.
“He is shedding some of his weight and putting it on Dhoni’s shoulders to ‘take care of the setting of the field’,” he said.
However, Harbhajan believes that Jadeja is a very confident man and his skills are incredible, and investing in him, along with serving Dhoni behind the stumps, is a good move by the Chennai franchise for the team’s upcoming future.
“But I think overall Jadeja is a very confident person when it comes to batting and bowling and his skills are unbelievable. It is rare for a team to be at their best when they are not doing well and they need to stand up and talk about certain things.
In their upcoming match, CSK will lock horns on April 9 with Sunrisers Hyderabad, who have lost both the matches they have played so far. Both the teams will be eager to register their first win of the season.
