Pat Cummins once mistakenly sent former Australian PM Scott Morrison a message that was actually meant for his teammates

Australia’s Test captain Pat Cummins has revealed he was shocked after former prime minister Scott Morrison included him in a WhatsApp group sharing a name with a chat he already had nationally. Was with teammates.

Cummins also revealed that he once mistakenly sent a message to Morrison that was actually meant for his Australia teammates.

After taking over the captaincy of Australia from Tim Paine, the fast bowler was added to a WhatsApp group called ‘The Legends’. Interestingly, he was also a part of the WhatsApp group of the same name, which had fast bowlers Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood as members.

“I just opened my phone and I have been added to a WhatsApp group called ‘Legends’ along with Scott Morrison and Justin Langer. we [already] There’s a WhatsApp group Hoffa, Starsee and I have called Legends. Hope I don’t send anything to the wrong group,” Cummins revealed in the first episode of the second series of the Amazon documentary, criterion,

Cummins later revealed how he had accidentally sent a message to his teammates. “I did once. I think it was a figure or a photo or a meme or something that came up and I sent it to the wrong group and I had to delete it immediately. Sorry PM,” Cummins told Sydney Morning Herald,

Cummins was appointed as Australia’s 47th Test captain in November 2021 after Paine was forced to step down following a texting scandal.

The 29-year-old also became the first Australian fast bowler to become the full-time captain of the Test team. He took charge of the side in ODIs in October last year after Aaron Finch decided to retire from the format.

Under the leadership of Cummins, the Australia Test team enjoyed a great home summer. They have won four out of five Test matches on home soil and the remaining one ended in a draw.

Also, Australia currently claims the top spot World Test Championship standings and are in prime position to make it to the finals.

Cummins is now gearing up for the four-match Test series India next month.

Australia entered the series after defeating South Africa 2–0.

The first Test between India and Australia is to begin in Vidarbha from February 9. Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur.
