I-League: Trai FC register easy win over Haplace Canakre FC

TRAI (Tidim Road Athletic Union) FC moved up to 6th position in the table after winning their match against Kenkre FC in the I-League 2021-22 here on Wednesday. TRAI put up a stellar performance at the Naihati Stadium with three runs from Kenkare in the final game of the 5th round of matches.

TRAI now has seven points from five matches with two wins, one draw and two losses. On the other hand, a troubled season continued for Canakre as they have now lost three out of four games and find themselves at the bottom of the table.

The game began with both sides competing for the ball in the middle of the park. TRAI slowly picked up the pace and looked like the team to score first. He got this breakthrough in the 14th minute of the game. Douglas Veloso made a looping delivery into the back of the net to take the score 1-0.

Ranjit Pandre had a chance to double his team’s lead in the 26th minute but Kenkre’s goalkeeper Amrit Gope saved his header. TRAI FC dominated the proceedings of the game and played the ball out from behind as soon as the first half whistled.

In search of a second goal, TRAU started the second half upwards. He achieved his target in just three minutes in the half through Manash Gogoi. Swimming into a beautiful corner at Buanthanglun Samte, Gogoi was able to enter the goal via a cycle kick to double Trai’s lead.

Captain Krishnanand Singh scored the third and last goal of the evening in the 64th minute. Samate gets another assist as he delivers a brilliant pass to Krishnananda, who hits it well with his left foot to kill the game.

Kenkare tried various things to change the approach of the game, but was unable to cause any significant trouble for Trai’s defense in the final 20 minutes of the game. Kenkere also sent in Siddharth Kolako and PC Rohlupuia just after the third goal, but were unable to score a consolation goal as the game ended 3-0.

TRAI captain Krishnanand Singh was awarded the Hero of the Match award for his brilliant effort. TRAU will now take on Gokulam Kerala in their next game. While Kenkere faces an uphill task in their clash against table-toppers Mohammed SC in the next round.
