India’s outgoing head coach Ravi Shastri has indicated that he may return to cricket commentary.

The 59-year-old was a renowned commentator before becoming the head coach of the Indian team. The stint ended on Monday with the final match of the T20 World Cup against Namibia here.

Shastri was in the commentary box in 2011 when Mahendra Singh Dhoni hit a six off Nuwan Kulasekhar to end India’s 28-year wait for the World Cup trophy. The former player is game for the second run.

Speaking to the media after India’s win against Namibia, Shastri spoke about his time with the team and while doing so, hinted at his future plans.

“I mean, if you look – if you want the real highlights, nothing beats Australia. England, we are up in the series. It will be the longest in the series until next year.

“I can comment on the game you all know, but I’ll keep that one area. It feels good,” said Shastri, referring to the pending fifth Test against England in India’s camp in September. Due to the outbreak of COVID-19 was rescheduled to next year.

There is also speculation that he may take up a coaching role in the IPL.
