I am a Kashmiri Pandit, feel the pain of the community: Rahul Gandhi India News – Times of India

New Delhi: Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi Said on Friday that he has a special place in his heart for Jammu and Kashmir as he Kashmiri Pandit.
Rahul, who is on a two-day visit to Jammu, said he feels at home whenever he visits the region because of his Kashmiri roots.
“My family is a Kashmiri Pandit family. A delegation of Kashmiri Pandits met me today. He said BJP They did nothing for them while Congress implemented many welfare schemes for them.
The former Congress president promised that he would do something for his “Kashmiri Pandit brothers”.
He said that he himself belongs to the Kashmiri Pandit community and feels their pain.
Kashmiri Pandits were forced to flee the Kashmir Valley to Jammu and other states in the early 90s, soon after the outbreak of terror in the region.
Taking a jibe at the BJP-led central government, Gandhi accused it of making false promises to migrant Kashmiri Pandits.
“A delegation of Kashmiri Pandits told me that the promise of Rs 25 lakh compensation has not been fulfilled yet. The Congress itself had announced compensation for Kashmiri Pandits,” he said.
The Congress leader said that whenever he comes to Jammu and Kashmir, he feels at home.
He said, “I said in Srinagar that whenever I come to Jammu and Kashmir I feel that I have come home. Yesterday I went to worship at Mata Vaishnodevi temple (in Reasi district) and I felt at home ”
Gandhi said, “Jammu and Kashmir, which was a state but now a union territory, has a very old relationship with my family.”
On August 5, 2019, the Center had abolished the special status of Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcated it into the union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
Gandhi had offered prayers at the cave temple of Mata Vaishno Devi on Thursday, the first day of his Jammu tour, after a 13-km long walk.
Last month, Gandhi offered prayers at Mata Khirbhavani temple in Ganderbal district in the Kashmir Valley – one of the largest temples of Kashmiri Pandits.
This is Gandhi’s second visit to Jammu and Kashmir in the last one month and he has said that he will also visit Ladakh in the coming days.
