The trailer of Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s next Telugu mythological drama Shakuntalam was unveiled at a grand event in Hyderabad on Monday. Going by the aesthetics of the trailer, the film portrays Samantha in her ethereal beauty best in an epic re-enactment of a Mahabharat episode. The trailer begins with a picture of a vast land, followed by a voiceover that introduces the audience to the newborn girl as well as sage Vishwamitra and his wife Menaka. Later in the trailer the baby is identified as Shakuntala.

In the following frame, King Dushyanta is introduced, and he meets Shakuntala for the first time in the forest. As the camera pans over to Samantha, she looks absolutely mesmerizing. It is love at first sight. When Dushyant meets her for the first time, she is covered in butterflies. The role of King Dushyant is played by Dev Mohan. Despite being a successful Malayalam actor and model, Dev Mohan’s acting prowess as a king has been brilliant. His magnificence in the trailer and the way he has delivered his dialogues has impressed the audience.

Despite being a Malayalam star, the actor was fluent in Telugu. Apart from this, the dubbing of the project in other languages ​​has also been completed by him.

The trailer of Shakuntalam also gives a glimpse of Shakuntala’s struggle to find true love and the consequences that follow. The film, which is expected to have a big budget, is helmed by Gunasekhar, best known for the epic period drama Rudramadevi that he made with Anushka Shetty.

Samantha had recently said that this would be her dream project and dream role. He has collaborated for the first time with Gunasekhar.

The film, which was produced by Gunasekhar himself on a significant budget, will release in Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada. It will hit the big screens across the world on February 17.
