“We used to organize health camps, blood donation drives and eye check-up camps. At first people did not come forward to donate. Dr SJ Naglotimath, Director, KIMS Hubli, had approved the site for our center in 2000, and since then we have been conducting free organ camps regularly. We have already organized more than 200 camps in the states of Karnataka, Goa, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra. Many people including drivers, soldiers and laborers who lost a leg or an arm in train accidents, road accidents or other tragedies have benefited from our centre,” he said.
Currently, the center sees no more than five patients in the age group of one to 65 years per day.
AIJYF also helps beneficiaries to find work or start a small business to achieve self-reliance in life.
Singhi said that many people including businessmen, politicians from all parties, officials, social organizations and common people are coming forward to help run the Centre.
