Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Vikram Vedha’ budget skyrockets as he refuses to shoot in UP

New Delhi: Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan’s upcoming film ‘Vikram Vedha’ has been garnering a lot of buzz ever since the film went on floors. The film is a remake of the Tamil neo-noir action thriller, starring R Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi and is slated to release worldwide on September 30, 2022. The 48-year-old had announced to wrap up the shooting of the film sometime back. His fanfare is very upbeat. According to reports, Hrithik will be seen playing the role of a criminal in the film while Saif Ali Khan will be seen in the role of a cop.

While the film is one of Hrithik Roshan’s most awaited films, the internet is doing the rounds of it becoming the most expensive film of his career. According to a report in BollywoodLife, the budget of the film has doubled following the demand of Hrithik Roshan.

Did Hrithik Roshan demand to build a grand set in Dubai for Vikram Vedha?

A well-located source within the industry has exclusively conveyed to BollywoodLife that like the original ‘Vikram Vedha’, the writer and director duo Pushkar-Gayatri were keen to complete the film on a limited budget. The budget of the original ‘Vikram Vedha’ was Rs 11 crore. However, things didn’t work out as thought by the makers and the Bollywood remake’s budget skyrocketed after the superstar demanded it.

The report claimed that Pushkar and Gayatri were keen to shoot the film in some of the dilapidated streets of Uttar Pradesh as they wanted the same gritty look and feel. However, the idea was categorically rejected by Hrithik, who instead urged the writer-director duo to recreate the same lanes of Uttar Pradesh through lavish sets in Dubai. The idea eventually reportedly directly doubled the film’s budget.

A report by Koimoi states that the budget of ‘Vikram Vedha’ has gone up to an astonishing Rs 175 crore, while the Tamil original is said to cost just Rs 11 crore, and is estimated to cost around Rs 60 crore. While collecting, was a smash hit. Gross at the box office.

Meanwhile, there is no official statement from the actor’s team or the makers yet on the news of the shooting of the film’s budget.

Details about Vikram Vedha

‘Vikram Vedha’ is based on the Indian folk tale of Vikram and Betaal and is the story of a tough police officer who sets out to capture and kill an equally tough gangster. The film is scheduled to release on the silver screen on 30 September. Apart from Hrithik and Saif, ‘Vikram Vedha’ also stars Radhika Apte, Rohit Saraf and Sharib Hashmi. This will be the second time he will share screen space with Saif Ali Khan and Hrithik Roshan after Na Tum Jaano Na Hum (2002).

Production began in October 2021 and ended in June 2022. It was earlier reported that the makers had earlier approached Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan to play ‘Vedha’. While Shah Rukh had turned down the role, Aamir Khan left the project in December 2020 following a delay in production due to the COVID-19 pandemic. After this Hrithik Roshan was taken in his place.
