The petitioner alleged that SI Riyaz Khan and another civil police officer were on duty there to protect the electronic voting machines kept in the school ahead of the assembly elections. The two misbehaved with some parents who were waiting outside the school.
Seeing this, Jackson intervened and questioned his attitude. But, the officers retaliated by abusing in front of his daughter. The officers also called their associates from the museum police station, who took the teacher to the police station and booked the officers for obstructing the discharge of their duty. Taking him into custody, they also confiscated the registration certificate of his vehicle.
Justice Antony Dominic in his order said that the investigation should be conducted by an officer of the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police.
The Commission also held that mere brawl is not a hindrance to duty and therefore the case registered by the Museum Police should be reviewed.
