Party sources said that during the meeting, the BJP leaders also discussed the constituencies that the party considers weak and why candidates may lose such seats.

The Himachal Pradesh unit of the BJP on Sunday sought the feedback of all the 68 party candidates who contested the November 12 assembly polls. The party’s internal exercise, held in Dharamshala, was aimed at reviewing the prospects of its candidates.

Party sources said that during the meeting, the BJP leaders also discussed the constituencies that the party considers weak and why candidates may lose such seats.

He said the candidates have been asked to submit a report on anti-party activities, if any, by leaders and members in their respective constituencies.

Sources said the saffron party is also assessing the possible independent winners and their ideology so that they can be inducted if required.

Earlier, Chief Minister Jairam Thakur claimed that the BJP would emerge victorious and change the state’s tradition by forming the government for the second consecutive term. For many decades, Himachal Pradesh has been following the tradition of voting for the incumbent government.

Thakur hit out at the Congress, saying there are eight to 10 candidates in that party who aspire to become chief ministers, but claimed all their hopes would be dashed.

He also thanked the people for registering 76 per cent voter turnout in the elections. The results will be declared on 8 December.
