Many children (as well as adults) have a habit of swallowing their food only when the screen is present. Not only are meal times considered sacrosanct and require a conscious habit, but distracted eating can actually distract from the meal or cause your child to overeat. With young children, TVs and tablets can be distracting enough for them not to actually learn to eat on their own, which is bad. Not to forget, any amount of extra time only adds to potential problems.
