‘How ridiculous!’: Captain Amarinder Singh slams Randeep Surjewala over BSF controversy

Former Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh on Thursday hit out at Congress general secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala, who said the former had not written about increasing the BSF’s jurisdiction in Punjab when he was the CM.

Terming Sujrewala’s claim as ridiculous, Amarinder Singh’s media advisor, Raveen Thukral wrote on Twitter quoting the former Punjab CM, “You mean I am not only supporting the decisions of @HMOIndia in Punjab but also in Gujarat, West Bengal, Assam. Adi too? A person who could not win elections in his own state has no right to speak on national issues.”

Amarinder Singh also slammed former hockey Olympian and cabinet minister Pargat Singh for saying that the former was in the BJP while he was also leading the Congress in the state, and said the move was the “height of irresponsibility”. .

Quoting Amarinder Singh, Thukral wrote, “This is the extent of irresponsibility of a Minister of State. You and @serryontopp are clearly birds of the same feather, nothing more than to cook up ridiculous stories for cheap publicity. ”

Pargat Singh had earlier said, “I have always said that the Captain is only with the BJP. Earlier he had gone to Delhi to delay the paddy procurement and now this… the rule.”

Earlier, the Center has amended the BSF Act to authorize the force to conduct searches, seizures and arrests in large stretches of 50 km, instead of the existing 15 km from the international border in Punjab, West Bengal and Assam.

While Punjab CM Charanjit Channi condemned the government’s decision, Amarinder Singh welcomed the Centre’s decision, saying, “Our soldiers are being killed in Kashmir. We are getting more and more weapons and drugs into Punjab by Pakistan-backed terrorists.” We are looking pushed. Only the increased presence and powers of BSF will make us stronger. Let’s not drag the Central Armed Forces into politics.”
