Yesteryear actress Meenakshi Seshadri was recently on the sets of the popular dance reality TV show, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa as a guest judge. The episode was titled Marzi Meenakshi Ki, where the contestants celebrated the actress completing 40 years in the Hindi film industry. Contestant Rajiv Thakur and choreographer Suchitra Sawant delivered a dance performance on the song Main Toh Raste Se Ja Raha Tha, which was filmed by Meenakshi’s favourite co-star Govinda and Karishma Kapoor.

Praising the performance, Meenakshi said, “I enjoyed it a lot. You are a born comedian. You made me laugh so much that now my cheeks are starting to hurt.”

“There are many reasons why Govinda is my favourite co-star. The first reason is that he also comes from a classical music family and his mother was a singer, so he sings very well.”

The actress revealed that she and Govinda used to sing classical songs together during shoots, making the producer/director question, “What is happening here?” She showered praises for the actor saying that he is an “amazing dancer who has great gestures, and also a versatile actor. She said, “Although he has done many comedy films, if you see him in other avatars, he is adorable.” And hoped that she would get to work with him again.

One of the main judges of the show, filmmaker Farah Khan also showed her appreciation for the performance, saying she enjoyed it a lot. She stated, “Suchitra, you are handling him very well. You are tapping on his comedy in between and I liked the whole sequence.”

Malaika Arora, one of the other main judges, spoke about how using the dance garba on this song was an interesting choice. According to her, the best part of the performance was when they danced with the dandiya sticks.
