Viola Davis and Jennifer Lawrence recently talked about the complexities of embracing motherhood. During a recent conversation on Variety’s Actors on Actors series, the two candidly talked about the time they accidentally sent their kids into harm’s way and the anxieties of being a new mom. Davis stresses the fact that every mother she meets says their child is a genius and how they run away from reality to paint a picture of perfection. Sharing a real-life incident that left her ‘painful’, the 57-year-old recalled the time she locked her daughter inside the car.
At the time, Davis said she was so overwhelmed with work and stress that she decided to go to Target. She got out of the car and closed the door, not realizing that both her keys and her daughter’s were inside the car. She remembered two passers-by grabbing her by the neck and shouting for help. “So the two men who had my neck in their hands said, ‘Ma’am, all you have to do is call 911.’ And I said, ‘Oh, okay.’ So I called 911, and I started yelling at the operator. Every expletive you can imagine came out of my mouth,” she said.
After the horrifying incident, David said she met several women who accidentally locked their children inside the car. Lawrence has also experienced a dangerous car accident with her son. Apparently, the X-Men star was once taking a walk with his son, but later realized he wasn’t sitting in his car seat. “He was just wobbling around, just flying. Alright cool! Nice to know that we all almost killed our kids,” she said
During the same conversation, Jennifer Lawrence admitted that she feels terrible and guilty whenever she thinks about being a good mother to her child. “I’m playing with him and I’m like, ‘Does he want to do this?’ should we be out? we are out. What if it’s cold? What if he is about to get sick? should we be in Is it enough?'”
Jennifer Lawrence gave birth to their son Cy in the month of February. Meanwhile, Davis is the mother of his adopted daughter, Genesis Davis, and stepmother to her husband Julius Tennon’s two children from previous relationships.
