How fast is India’s COVID vaccination campaign? Know how many doses have been given so far

A massive vaccination campaign is being conducted across the country to combat COVID-19. So far, more than 519 million people have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Talking about the figures of the last five days, the speed of vaccination has slowed down and then increased.

  • 4.955 million doses on 6 August
  • 5.591 million doses on 7 August
  • 1.611 million doses on 8 August
  • 5.491 million doses on 9 August
  • 4.138 million vaccine doses on 10 August

New COVID-19 cases were reported in the last five days, on August 6, 38,628 cases, on August 7, 39,070 cases, on August 8, 35,499 cases, on August 9, 28,204 cases and on August 10, 38,353 cases were reported.

Over 519 million doses administered in India

The first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine has been given to 403.5 million people, while 115.4 million people have been fully vaccinated in the country. In percentage terms, 29.74 per cent Indians have been partially vaccinated, while 8.51 per cent Indians have been fully vaccinated. The total number of vaccines administered has exceeded 519 million. Under the nationwide immunization drive, the vaccination of health workers began on January 16, while the vaccination of frontline workers began on February 2. The next phase of vaccination began on March 1, covering people above 60 years of age and people above 45 years of age with severe disease.

Foreign nationals will get COVID-19 vaccine

The Government of India started vaccinating those above 45 years of age from 1 April. Vaccination for everyone over the age of 18 began on May 1 this year. The central government has recently taken a major decision in its effort to improve the statistics of vaccinations for foreign nationals residing in India. Foreign nationals can use their passport as ID to register on the COWIN portal. After successful registration, they will be allotted a slot for vaccination.
