How did Bihar boy Ayush crack UPSC CSE in his first attempt without any coaching?

Unlike thousands of aspirants looking to prepare for civil services exam, Lal Ayush Venkat Vats, a native of Nawada, Bihar, has not only cracked the UPSC IAS exam in the first attempt, but that too without any coaching. Vats gave an All. have achieved India Rank 74.

After completing his graduation in 2021, Vats started preparing for the civil services exam. Ayush used the slowdown led by the Covid-19 pandemic to his advantage. He claims that he studies 16 hours a day.

Ayush said that it was his father who used to motivate him for the civil services examination. Despite quitting his job after completing his graduation, Aayush decided to work on Prerna. He started by collecting study material from online resources. He read the material thoroughly and then prepared his notes. He also said that he often follows the lessons of IAS Kumar Anurag on YouTube. Claiming to be an IAS officer, revision and revision of notes and clearing foundation before preparing notes helped him crack the exam.

Ayush completed his schooling from Deoghar and passed the 10th examination in 2015. He passed 12th examination from Central Academy Kota Rajasthan in 2017. After passing 12th, he enrolled in Mechanical Engineering at Delhi College of Engineering in 2017.

Ayush father Tarun Kumar, resident of Belad village of Kashichak block, retired block education Officer (BEO) Hazaribagh. While his mother Nisha Singh is the principal of Project Girls High School, Katoria Banka. Aayush also has two sisters, both of whom are doctors.

This year the top three ranks have been secured by women. Shruti Sharma secured the first rank, followed by Ankita Agarwal and Gamini Singla at the second and third positions respectively. A total of 685 candidates have been recommended for appointment by UPSC which includes 244 General, 73 EWS, 203 OBC, 105 SC and 60 ST category candidates.
