Hong Kong: Hong Kong has recognized Hyderabad based pharmaceutical firm Bharat Biotech‘s covaxin in its approved Covid-19 vaccine list.
Along with this, 96 countries have given recognition to Covaxin and Covishield. Both these Kovid-19 vaccines have also received Emergency Use List (EUL) from World Health Organization ,WHO,
Canada, the US, Australia, Spain, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Belgium, Russia and Switzerland are among 96 countries that have approved both India-made vaccines.
Last week, the WHO approved a list of emergency uses for Covaxin and said Bharat Biotech’s vaccine was found to have 78 percent efficacy against COVID-19 of any severity 14 or more days after the second dose.
The WHO had said, “Covaxin was found to have 78 percent efficacy against COVID-19 of any severity 14 or more days after the second dose, and is highly suitable for low- and middle-income countries due to easy storage requirements.”
The UN health body’s Emergency Use Inventory process assesses vaccines under process based on a review of data on quality, safety, efficacy, risk management planning and suitability in low- and middle-income countries.
