What is 3D Hologram Technology
3D hologram technology is not commonly used in India and this statue of Netaji, the founder of the Azad Hind Fauj, will be one of its kind in the country. This technology uses a projector to create a virtual three-dimensional image. In simple words, a hologram is just a projection that looks realistic. Unlike a traditional film on a standard screen, a 3D hologram can be viewed from all sides. This means that the observer can walk around the projected image, providing a realistic feel.
What differentiates a 3D hologram from virtual reality or a 3D video is that it can be viewed by everyone without wearing 3D glasses. These holograms are formed by the interference of beams of light reflecting off real physical objects. In order to illuminate a realistic 3D hologram, it must first be specially designed or it must be professionally recorded using a laser. Projecting a 3D hologram requires a transparent holographic screen in addition to a projector. The holographic screen is a key element on which the quality of the hologram depends.
The hologram statue of Netaji at India Gate will be powered by a powerful 4K projector. These projectors are quite large and expensive. According to a PMO statement, the transparent holographic screen used for the statue will not be visible to the users.
How can you make your own 3D hologram at home through your smartphone?
While it may sound complicated, making a basic 3D hologram at home is not that difficult. It can be easily made using your smartphone and some basic household ingredients. There are tons of videos on YouTube that can guide you through the process of creating 3D holograms from a smartphone.
First you should have an old CD or DVD case, a scale, knife, glue, scissors and tape (transparent recommended). Now using the material you have to make a pyramid-like structure. To learn how the structure is made for a hologram projection, you can watch the video below. The 2 minute video was shared by YouTuber Mrwhosetheboss More than 6 years ago but this is still one of the easiest to understand tutorials on 3D Hologram Composition.

We tried to follow the instructions in the video and it took us around 15-20 minutes to make our own 3D hologram projection at home through smartphone.
