Holi 2023: Indian Railways Operating 196 Special Trains To Deal With Festive Rush

For the convenience of passengers and to reduce the holiday rush, the Railways is running 491 runs of 196 special trains during Holi, the national transporter announced on Monday. According to him, these unique trains will connect important cities across the country. For example, these new special trains will carry passengers from different states like Maharashtra, Bihar, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and other states. Significantly, these trains will be operated along with the already running mail and express trains.

It is noteworthy that Indian Railways runs these special trains around holidays to accommodate more passengers. The busiest routes, such as Delhi-Patna, Bengaluru-Patna, Pune-Patna, Mumbai-Patna and others, are given priority by the Railways. However, the services of Holi special trains are not only offered on these lines; For the convenience of the passengers, the frequency of trains has been increased at other places as well.

In this ongoing Holi festival season, Indian Railways is running 491 trips of 196 special trains for the convenience of rail passengers and to clear extra rush of passengers.

“Special trains have been planned to connect major destinations across the country like Delhi- Patna, Delhi- Bhagalpur, Delhi-Muzaffarpur, Delhi-Saharsa, Gorakhpur- Mumbai, Kolkata-Puri, Guwahati- Ranchi, New Delhi- Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra , Jaipur- Bandra Terminus, Pune- Danapur, etc.,” the Railways ministry said in a statement.

Railways have also implemented crowd control measures by forming queues at terminus stations under the supervision of RPF staff for orderly entry of passengers in unreserved coaches. Additional RPF personnel have been deployed at major stations to ensure the safety of passengers.

Officials have been deployed on emergency duty at major stations to ensure smooth running of trains. Railways said that staff has been deployed in different sections on a priority basis to deal with any disruption in train service. Measures have been taken for frequent and timely announcement of arrival/departure of trains with platform numbers.
