Holi 2022 Special: Holi is incomplete without ‘Dahi Bhalla’ – Here’s how to make Bhalla soft

Holi 2022, There is a trend of eating Dahi Bhalla on the festival of Holi. In many places, Dahi Bhalla is specially made on Holi. Dahi Bhalla is a delicious dish made from urad dal and curd.

While curd balls are easily available in the market, people complain that homemade balls become hard and tough. Today we are telling you how you can make really soft Bhalla at home.

Ingredients for making Dahi Bhallas

  • Urad dal – 2/3 cup washed
  • Moong dal – 1/3 cup washed
  • Raisins – 8
  • Chopped green chili – 2
  • Chopped Ginger – 1 piece
  • Asafoetida – 1/4 tsp
  • oil for frying
  • Curd – 300 grams
  • Powdered sugar – 1 tbsp
  • Roasted cumin – 1/2 tsp
  • Black salt – 1/4 tsp
  • Black pepper powder – 1/4 tsp
  • Sweet chutney – 1 tbsp
  • Green chutney – 1 tbsp

How to make Soft Dahi Bhalla

1-First of all, soak urad and moong dal separately for about 5 hours.
2- Now drain the water completely from the urad dal and grind it finely in a mixer jar.
3- Similarly take out the water from moong dal and grind it finely.
4- Now mix the paste of urad and moong dal and beat it well.
5- While whipping the pulse, keep in mind that the pulse should be in the same direction. That is, either in the direction from left to right or from right to left.
6- Beat this paste for about 10 minutes. To beat the batter well, put it in water and check it. If the solution floats in water, it means that it has been thoroughly whisked.
7- Now add raisins, green chilies, ginger to this paste and beat a little more.
8- Now put about 1 liter of normal water, 1 glass of hot water and asafetida in a vessel.
9- Heat oil in a pan and put the balls in the oil.
10- Now, with the help of a spoon, pour oil on the balls and fry them till they puff up.
11- When the Bhalles become golden brown, take them out from the oil.
12- Now immediately put all the Bhallas in water and leave it like this for half an hour.
13- Now prepare the mixture of curd for Bhalle. For this, add powdered sugar to the curd.
14- Now to serve, press the balls lightly and take them out from the water.
15- Now place the Bhallas in a bowl, add curd, cumin powder, black pepper powder, black salt, red and green chutney on top.
