Kailash had joined the army in 2008
Kailash was born in 1981 and joined the Pakistan Army as a captain in 2008 after completing MBBS from Liaquat University of Medical Health and Sciences in Jamshoro. Anil Kumar is one year younger than Kailash, a resident of Badin in Sindh province. According to reports, he had joined the Pakistani Army in 2007. On Thursday, state-run Pakistan Television tweeted about the promotion of Kailash Kumar. PTV tweeted, Kumar has become the first Hindu officer to be promoted to lieutenant colonel.

Kapil Dev tweeted- Kailash Kumar created history by becoming the first Hindu officer to be promoted to lieutenant colonel in the Pak Army. Congratulations Kailash!!! On Friday, he again shared the news of Anil Kumar’s promotion on Twitter. Congratulations to Anil Kumar on being promoted as a lieutenant colonel in the Pakistan Army. He and Kailash Kumar both got promotions. Today is a wonderful day to share such rare and good news.

Promotion not officially confirmed yet
As of now, there is no official confirmation regarding both the promotions. Hindus and people from other minority communities were not allowed to join the Pakistan Army until 2000. Hindus are the largest minority community in Pakistan. According to official estimates, there are about 75 lakh Hindus living in the country. Most of Pakistan’s Hindu population is settled in Sindh province where they share culture, tradition and language with Muslims.
