Claiming that the samadhi of Sufi saint Moinuddin Chishti in Ajmer was once a temple, a Hindu organization has demanded a survey of the complex by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). Rajvardhan Singh Parmar of the Maharana Pratap Sena claimed that Hindu symbols were present on the walls and windows of the dargah. However, the body of the Khadims (servants) rejected the claim saying that there was no such symbol. “The dargah of Khwaja Garib Nawaz was earlier an ancient Hindu temple. There are swastika symbols on the walls and windows. We demand that the ASI conduct a survey of the dargah.

Moin Chishti, president of Khadim’s body Anjuman Syed Jadagan, said the claim was baseless as there is no such symbol in the tomb. He said that every year lakhs of people, Hindus and Muslims, come here. “I am saying this with full responsibility that the symbol of Swastika is nowhere in the Dargah. This dargah is from 850 years. Such a question never arose. There is a special kind of atmosphere in the country today which was never there.

He said that questioning the tomb of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti meant hurting the sentiments of crores of people who offer prayers there irrespective of their religion. Chishti said that it is the job of the government to respond to such elements. Samadhi Secretary Wahid Hussain Chishti termed the claim as an attempt to disturb communal harmony.
