Himachal Pradesh Weather Update: The local weather office has predicted light rain or snowfall in the central and higher hills of Himachal Pradesh on Thursday (February 2). On Wednesday (February 1) also the weather is expected to remain dry till February 7 (Tuesday).
At least 287 roads, including three national highways, are closed for vehicular traffic, according to the state’s Emergency Operation Centre. Lahaul and Spiti have maximum 144 road closures, Kinnaur 50, Shimla 49, Chamba 24, Kullu 13, Kangra two and Sirmaur district have one road closure.
Power from 116 transformers and water from 16 supply lines were also disrupted. Kufri, a suburb of Shimla, received light snowfall but there was no significant change in the minimum and maximum temperatures across the state.
Six Western Disturbances affected the state in January with three causing active rain and snowfall. The state recorded excess rainfall of about three per cent in the month of January.
