A three-storey building collapsed in Himachal Pradesh’s Shimla district on Saturday. A state disaster management official said that the building collapsed like a pack of cards at around 12.30 pm in the Chaupal Market area.

No one was killed in the building collapse, the official said. A branch of UCO Bank, a dhaba, a bar and some other commercial establishments were located in the building.

UCO Bank chief manager Ramesh Dadhwal said, “Being the second Saturday, there was a holiday at the top floor of the building and none of the seven employees working in the bank were present at the time of the incident.” Regional Branch at Shimla.

“According to the information given to me by one of the staff posted there, some people sitting in the bar on the ground floor suddenly noticed cracks in the window panes,” he added, sensing the danger, they immediately ran out of the building. And alerted other people sitting in bars and dhabas.
