Board exams have started in Karnataka from March 28 amid the hijab controversy. These are the first exams after the hijab controversy arose. Following the order of the Karnataka High Court, the girl students took entry only after stripping the hijab outside the exam center. At the same time, the Dakshina Kannada administration said that they will be allowed to wear the hijab inside the exam hall, where it is part of the uniform.

Commissioner KV Rajendra said that many schools in Karnataka are run by Muslim organizations and hijab is part of the uniform there. Therefore, entry will be available at those centers wearing hijab.
