High Court is not a garden, cannot move on its own accord: Gujarat High Court to lawyers. Ahmedabad News – Times of India

Ahmedabad : Gujarat High Court On Monday expressed displeasure at the demand for an adjournment in a case on the ground of changing the counsel of the plaintiff. The court first lashed out at the lawyers who walked out of the case and said that the High Court is not a garden, where one can walk and go out as per his wish.
The matter is related to the property dispute of Khoja Community Trust in Patan. In the first case, two lawyers appearing for one of the plaintiffs dropped the case. When the new counsel sought time from the court to prepare himself, the counsel for the petitioner objected to the delay in the proceedings. A bench of Justices JB Pardiwala and VD Nanavati sought to know the reasons as to why the lawyers walked out of the proceedings.
The judges summoned both the lawyers on Tuesday morning and remarked, “The High Court is not a Law Garden or Parimal Garden where one walks in one day saying ‘I am here’ and the next day he says ‘I am out’. of the case’. What nonsense is going on? We will not tolerate this.” The court has summoned lawyers to answer the court’s questions.
