BERLIN: A man went missing on Wednesday as storms caused heavy flooding in parts of western and central Europe overnight and a furious current swept across East Germany.
Firefighters started searching for the man in Johstad town of Saxony state on Wednesday morning. German news agency DPA reported that he was trying to protect his property from rising water when he disappeared.
Firefighters rescue several drivers whose vehicles were stuck in a flooded underpass in the city of Hagen in North Rhine-Westphalia state. Videos on social media showed knee-deep water in streets in the West German city and others buried by landslides.
