Heavy Rainfall Turns City Into Pool | Lucknow News – Times of India

LUCKNOW: Heavy rain lashed several parts of the city on Tuesday disrupting normal life due to severe waterlogging and overflowing drains.
Roads in several areas of the city were submerged in knee-deep water affecting traffic following the heavy shower that lasted for over an hour.
A TOI reality check found that areas like Meerabai Marg, Jopling Road, Rana Pratap Marg, Park Road, Jankipuram, Hazratganj, Telibagh, Dalibagh and Utrathiya were worst affected.
Residents of these areas complained that choked drains and faulty designs of roads and footpaths led to the extensive waterlogging of roads. They also alleged that despite repeated complaints about the basic civic issues, Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) had not taken any steps in this regard.
Ritu Singh (28), a resident of Jopling Road, said “The entire area was submerged in ankle-to-knee deep water hitting normal life. I was supposed to attend a job interview but I could not go as the roads were flooded due to severe waterlogging.”
“We have raised the waterlogging issue with the civic body, but in vain,” said 31-year-old Rajat Verma of Park Road.
