Heavy rain to continue over some parts of west coast – see IMD forecast here

New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday (June 25, 2022) said that northwest India, which is again under warm conditions after a brief period of pre-monsoon, is likely to see an increase in rainfall from Monday. The Meteorological Department informed that similar increased rain activity is on the cards for central India as well. In its latest bulletin, the IMD said in its latest bulletin that from Sunday till June 29, under the influence of low level easterly, isolated thundershowers with isolated/moderate rainfall are likely to occur over Uttarakhand and East Uttar Pradesh; Himachal Pradesh and West Uttar Pradesh on June 28 and 29.

The Met Office further predicted the possibility of isolated heavy rainfall over Uttarakhand during June 27-29; East Uttar Pradesh on June 28 and 29 and Himachal Pradesh on June 29.

“Very widespread rain/thundershowers are expected over Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, under the influence of a trough at lower levels from West Rajasthan and adjoining Ganga to West Bengal; There is a possibility of scattered rain over Madhya Pradesh during the next five days, and isolated heavy rainfall very likely over Chhattisgarh till June 29; Vidarbha during June 26-29 and East Madhya Pradesh during June 27-29,” the IMD said.

Meanwhile, in continuation of the heavy rains already lashing the region, heavy rain is likely to continue over the west coast during the next five days.

The IMD said the national capital remained partly cloudy on Sunday and the minimum temperature was recorded at 29 degrees Celsius, a notch above the season’s average. The Meteorological Department has predicted partly cloudy sky during the day. The maximum temperature is likely to be around 41 degree Celsius. The air quality in the national capital was recorded at 188 at 8 am, which falls in the “moderate” category.

Heavy to very heavy rain may occur in Maharashtra

According to the Weather Channel, for the next five days i.e. from Saturday to Wednesday (June 25-29) and possibly further, with widespread rain and thundershowers over Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada, Coastal Maharashtra will receive widespread rain and thundershowers. Chances are. Mumbai is likely to receive heavy rains over the weekend, after which the intensity will reduce to moderate from Monday to Wednesday.

West Bengal Weather Updates

The IMD has forecast heavy rain during the next five days in Alipurduar and Cooch Behar, while other districts are likely to receive thunderstorms and heavy rain thereafter during the next two days. The low-lying areas of three districts in the northern part of West Bengal – Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar and Cooch Behar – have been receiving incessant rains for the past few days, officials said on Saturday. He said areas like Bhasubba and Champadanga in Mal block and Dhupguri, Moinaguri and Sukanta Nagar in Jalpaiguri district were battling a flood-like situation.

The Meteorological Office has issued a yellow alert, warning of thunder and thunderstorms for four more days in the state. According to the IMD’s forecast, thunderstorms are likely to occur at isolated places over the state for the next four days. It said that there is a possibility of heavy rain and thundershower activities at isolated places over the eastern part of the state from June 27.

The pre-monsoon rains have ended with Rajasthan remaining dry for the last 24 hours. According to the Meteorological Department, rain activities are likely to start again in Kota and Udaipur divisions next week.
