Punjab’s famous drugs case will be heard in the Punjab Haryana High Court today, in which the sealed report of the Special Task Force (STF) may open. In the last hearing, the Punjab government was strongly reprimanded by the High Court. In the High Court, Punjab’s new Advocate General DS Patwalia had said that the HC is not barred from opening the report. On this, the High Court asked the government why they had not taken any action till now, after which Punjab Congress President Navjot Sidhu said that his point was proved to be true.

Political issue more than crime and waste
In Punjab, the issue of drug addiction has become a political issue more than any crime and waste, which Congress chief Navjot Sidhu is exploiting the most. Sidhu has claimed many times that the names of Akali leaders are in it. Sidhu has even warned of death due to the demand to open the report. In protest against this, former Akali minister Bikram Singh Majithia also reached the court to form a party. But it was not approved by the High Court. Sidhu has again demanded action from the government in this matter.

Sidhu has been constantly clashing with the government on this issue.

The previous AG had argued for the approval of the High Court
Earlier, the previous Advocate General of Punjab Government had said that the STF report has been submitted sealed in the High Court. In such a situation, it is not appropriate for the government to open it. If approval is received from the High Court in this regard, then further action can be taken by opening it.

Captain government did not even take action
Even when Captain Amarinder Singh was the CM, no action was taken in this matter. At that time also it was argued that the matter was in the High Court. In such a situation, the state government could not take action in the subjudice matter, due to which the question of collusion with the Akalis kept arising on the Captain.

You have apologized to Majithia
The Aam Aadmi Party had heavily capitalized on this issue in the 2017 Punjab elections. He had accused Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia of giving protection to drug smugglers. Its posters were also put up all over Punjab. In protest, Majithia filed a defamation case in the Amritsar Court, after which Majithia himself told that Arvind Kejriwal had apologized to him in writing.

However, AAP Punjab co-in-charge Raghav Chadha on Wednesday again said that Congress and Akali are playing a game together in which Majithia will be arrested for a day. It also pointed to the same issue.
