Chief minister of Bihar Nitish Kumar On Thursday he congratulated his former deputy Tejashwi Yadav on the latter’s wedding, let alone being invited, expressing dismay at not being informed of the subtleties. In a brief but carefully written congratulatory statement, Kumar emphasized the fact that he heard in the “news media” about the marriage of Yadav, who is now the Leader of the Opposition.
Yadav, who is married in Delhi, is the younger son of Kumar’s arch rival RJD supremo Lalu Prasad. Prasad and Kumar have known each other since the JP movement of 1974, when both cut their political teeth as student leaders.
Despite acrimonious political rivalry, the two have often been at each other’s hideouts on special occasions. People here still remember the warm embrace that Kumar had attended three-and-a-half years ago at the wedding of Prasad’s eldest son.
