Health officials tried to curb the cases of Kovid in the worst affected areas. Mysuru News – Times of India

Mysuru: Seven urban pockets – two in Mysore, three in Chikkamagaluru and one each in Kodagu and Mandya districts – and three rural areas – two in Kodagu and one in Mysuru – are among the top 20 Covid-hit areas in Karnataka.
According to the data from the state’s Kovid War Room, the government has identified 20 most affected urban areas and 20 rural areas as the worst affected. In the last four weeks, as on September 6, Heggadadevana Kote and Krishnarajanagar city in Mysore, Narasimharajapura, Tarikere and Mudigere in Chikkamagaluru; Nagamangala in Mandya and Kushalnagar in Kodagu are the cities reporting more cases. In the rural category, Metagalli in Mysuru, Horur in Kodagu and Thannimani have seen more cases than other cities in the respective districts.
District health officer Dr KH Prasad said that Mysuru has three cities with the highest number of cases and Periyapatna city was left out of the list due to increased testing and surveillance. Special teams were formed to keep a strict vigil on testing, quarantine and strictly enforce the appropriate treatment of COVID. There was an outbreak of Covid in a basti area in the taluk and the spread was controlled with strict measures, the DHO explained.
HD Kota recorded 33 cases and Krishnarajanagar 80 cases in the last four weeks. The number of infected is small yet comparatively high. Hence similar measures are being implemented to reduce the positivity rate by screening all primary contacts. The DHO, however, clarified that this is not a case of a cluster outbreak. Since Metagalli in urban Mysore is located close to a cluster of hospitals, including the district hospital, the number of Covid cases continues to emerge.
Kodagu’s Kushalnagar has 102 and Chikkamagaluru’s Narasimharajapura and Mudigere have reported 58 and 54 cases respectively in the past four weeks, data released on September 6 showed.
