GORAKHPUR: Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers Dr Mansukh Mandaviya said here on Monday that during the last seven years health Budget The country registered an eight-fold growth, while this year the government is going to spend Rs 2.25 lakh crore in the health sector.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi linked health with development for the first time in the country. His dream is to set up medical colleges in every district. Earlier there used to be only nine medical colleges in UP, but now PM Modi is inaugurating nine medical colleges in one go, which will not only ensure best treatment but will also give opportunity to a large number of youth to become doctors. With the creation of medical colleges, an ecosystem will also be created,” Mandaviya said.
“Lord Buddha had said that your work affects many generations and these medical colleges will become a medium of service for generations to come,” he said.
“The PM has paid special attention to medical education and has constituted a National Medical Commission. The Union Health Minister said that 157 medical colleges are being opened in the country.
Comparing the situation before 2014 with the present time, he said, “In 2013-14, there were only 51,000 seats for Medical UG but during the last seven years there has been an increase of 32,000 seats. Similarly, there were only 31,000 PG medical seats which have now increased to 55,000.
“The number of medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh has increased to sixty-six and the number of UG seats has doubled, while PG seats have registered an increase of 18 times,” he said.
