‘He Shouldn’t Rush…,’ Robin Uthappa’s Warning To Indian Star

Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is all geared up for his comeback following a horrific car crash in December 2022 and will most likely feature for the Delhi Capitals in the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as well. Following a rigorous and extensive rehabilitation process by the player at National Cricket Academy (NCA), he has now been cleared to play the upcoming IPL season.

However, former Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa feels that the players’ return should not be rushed considering the type of injury he has been through. While speaking in an interview, Robin said “Well as far as Rishabh Pant is concerned, it all depends on his fitness and how he recovers from what has been a tough year and a half for him. I think, we should send all those energies to him that he recovers and comes back to his best. It’s good to see He’s back in the nets, he’s hitting the ball well, doing center wicketkeeping practice. He shouldn’t rush the process,” Uthappa said in an interview.

Uthappa’s Warning To Pant

Uthappa cautioned Pant against rushing back into action, emphasizing that attempting to push himself into cricket could significantly worsen his injury.

“It’s hard to stay out of the game for so long, especially when you are super competitive and you want to perform and win matches. But sometimes when you hurry the process you end up doing more damage and go back to the wait line which is more frustrating. I really hope he takes his time to comeback and when he does he comes out good,” Uthappa added.

Sourav Ganguly, the director of cricket for Delhi Capitals, previously stated that there was no external pressure on Pant to return to the field. Ganguly disclosed that Pant was determined to return for the IPL 2024 and was diligently training with the supervision of medical professionals at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.
