Kumar Sangakkara said that Yashasvi Jaiswal is very hardworking and prepares well in the nets before every match.

Rajasthan Royals head coach Kumar Sangakkara heaped praise on young batting sensation Yashasvi Jaiswal after he tore apart the Mumbai Indians bowlers and scored his maiden IPL century. Jaiswal displayed his class at his home cricket ground and scored 124 off 62 balls to take the Royals to a mammoth score of 212/7. He was in complete control throughout the innings and used to hit boundaries at regular intervals to put pressure on the opposition.

The southpaw scored 41 off 23 balls in the power-play and 44 off 25 balls in the middle overs, before scoring 39 off 14 balls in the death overs to reach the triple-figure mark.

The Royals head coach said that Jaiswal is very hardworking and prepares well in the nets before every match.

“He is not only extremely talented but also works really hard. He has spent a lot of time in preparation, a lot of time in the nets working on his preparation. He has worked on his game for three to four years with us. And it shows that he is very focused and motivated and the results are showing,” Sangakkara said at the post-match press conference.

“He played beautifully today. He batted almost the entire innings, which was exceptional. He set us up for a great total. Yash has a long way to go not only with us but also at the international level. He just needs to work hard. Need to keep doing, keep scoring runs and keep knocking on doors. The best thing about Yash is that he learns and he learns very quickly. He has a great attitude. He is very good at everything he does turns positive.”

However, Jaiswal’s knock went in vain as Mumbai Indians pulled off a last-over thriller to topple Rajasthan Royals. In reply to Jaiswal’s century, Suryakumar Yadav (55 off 29 balls), Cameron Green (44 off 26 balls) laid the foundation for a crucial win, while Tim David (45 not out off 14 balls) provided a blockbuster finish with three sixes. Did. With 17 runs needed off the last over, the row helped MI chase down the mammoth target with three balls to spare.

Speaking on the result of the match, the RR head coach admitted that David was too good for the Royals bowlers while also praising Suryakumar and Green for setting the tone for the highest run chase at the venue.

“We got a great total. 212 (213) is not easy to chase. We could have been a bit more disciplined in our bowling in the powerplay but the way they batted and the way Tim David batted in the end “The way Suryakumar Yadav batted in the middle order and Cameron Green also. They showed a lot of intent,” Sangakkara said.

He said, ‘We had to save 17 runs in the last over, which is a lot of runs. But Tim David was too good for us that day.”

Royals will next take on Gujarat Titans at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on May 5 while Mumbai will face Punjab Kings on May 3 at the IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali.
