Hubli: The Hubli-Dharwad Urban Development Authority ,HDUDA) is ready to launch a campaign to demolish invalid layout In Hubli and Dharwad from Friday.
HDUDA has already demolished hundreds of illegal layouts in Phase I and II. Friday marks the start of the third phase.
HDUDA president Nagesh Kalaburagi told TOI that there were several illegal layouts twin cities And it was also causing huge loss to HDUDA in terms of revenue. “I have started targeting illegal layouts after taking over as President. In the last six months, we have launched a campaign in two phases and we have demolished 177 illegal layouts in Hubballi and Dharwad. Now, we are ready to start the third phase of demolition of the illegal layout from January 28,” he said. “Our team of officers will also seek the help of the police to prevent any untoward incident during the demolition and I will personally oversee the operation,” he said.
“We have also identified ninety illegal layouts which will be demolished in the third phase. Of these, 36 layouts have been built in Dharwad on 104 acres. We will first launch a campaign in Dharwad and then in Hubli. In the next one week we will remove all 90 illegal layouts.
“We have given notices to all the concerned owners, but they did not respond to our notices and did not come forward to convert their illegal layouts into legal ones by following the norms laid down by the government. So, we will start demolishing such layouts,” he said.
He pointed out that most of the owners developed illegal layouts on 3-12 acres without following the government norms. “As per the government norms, the land owner should earmark 10% of the land for garden, 5% for CA (civic facilities) and 30% for construction of roads. In addition, they have to convert their land into NA (Non-Agriculture) sites by paying the fee and take the approval of the layout from HDUDA and get the plots registered in the sub-registrar’s office by paying the fee prescribed by the Govt. For all these works, the land owner has to spend at least Rs 6-7 lakh per acre to make the layout legally, but most of the owners blow all these norms and start building illegal layouts. Gave. After we started the demolition drive, the number of applications for land approval has now increased,” he said.
“On Friday, we will demolish some illegal layouts in Hosayallapur. We will remove electric poles, water pipelines and other infrastructure developed in illegal layouts during the drive.”
