Ever wondered what would happen to all your data saved on the cloud and services like that? Apple And Google after you’re gone? Well, Google has thought of this and has a feature that will allow us to decide when it should consider deactivating our account and what happens to our data afterwards. If you use Google services such as Google Maps, Gmail, Search, or . make use of google photos, or just in case you have an Android phone, Google There is a lot of data about you or your habits. Some people also save their bank card details and apps like google pay to pay. All of this sensitive information on our Google Account requires us to have a plan for our Google Account data because we might want to share everything with someone who can take care of it after us. Let’s take a look at how to keep your data safe.
Now, when a person doesn’t use their Google Account for months, it becomes inactive. Basically when Google doesn’t find any activity in an account for a long period of time, it becomes inactive. However, Google now lets you decide when it should consider deactivating your account and what should happen to it and what should happen after the data is deactivated. Google gives users the option to share the account and its data with a trusted person. Or they can also ask Google to delete the account when it becomes inactive. “We’ll trigger the plan you’ve set up only if you haven’t used your Google Account for a while. Tell us how long we should wait before doing so,” Google says.
One nice feature is that Google allows users to set an additional waiting period for the account to be considered inactive. Users can choose up to a maximum of 18 months. You can visit myaccount.google.com/inactive to manage it. It is important to note that the most authentic and basic thing to do is share your password with someone you trust.
Once you visit the above link, you will first have to enter the waiting period for inactivity, email id, phone number and other details.
Next, Google will give you the option to choose up to 10 people you want to notify when your Google Account becomes inactive and you are no longer using the account. Users can also give access to some of their data and the option to download it. This requires a reliable email ID.
If you don’t want anyone to access your Google Account data, you don’t need to add anyone’s email ID. However, this will mean that your data will be deleted and no one will ever be able to restore it once your account is deactivated.
When you add a trusted email, Google will display a list and ask you to choose what data you want to share with your contact. The list includes Google Pay, Google Photos, Google Chat, Location History and everything else a user might have done using their Google Account. It’s important to note that your trusted contact will only have access for three months after your Google Account is deactivated. Google will send an email to the trusted contact with the subject line and content you typed in during setup. Google says it will add a footer to that email, explaining that it has instructed the company to send an email on your behalf once you stop using your account.
If you choose to delete all your data after deactivation, Google will delete everything you have. This includes YouTube videos, location history, search history, Google Pay data, and other content. If you choose a trusted contact, the email will contain a list of the data you have chosen to share.
