Yashasvi Jaiswal celebrating after hitting a half-century

Yashasvi Jaiswal is in the middle of a purple patch. Since returning to RR in the middle of the season, Jaiswal has continued to do well for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy.

After scoring a century in the quarterfinals and two in the semifinals, Jaiswal was on course for his fourth century before Madhya Pradesh seamer Anubhav Agarwal bundled him out for 78 on the first day of the Rani Trophy final here on Wednesday.

After the end of the day’s play, Jaiswal said, ‘Yes, I am a little sad about it, but this is cricket.

“Because in cricket things are not the way you want them to be, but I am trying my best to improve myself as a cricketer and as a human being,” he said.

Jaiswal, during IPLWas dropped after the first few games, but returned to the Royals’ playing XI in the second half, scoring some impressive half-centuries.

Similar in Ranji Trophy, where he was knocked out in the group league stage and then came back with a bang from the quarter-finals, scoring nearly 500 runs.

“The same thing happened in the IPL. I got three games, got out, and came back (to the side) after seven games. But through all these hiatus, it was in my mind that I had to work hard and be disciplined. Need to be there. All the time,” Jaiswal said.

He said that during the lean phase, it is only hard work that pays off. “Working (hard work) every day is important because then I will be persistent. When I was dropped from the playing XI in the IPL, I would be working with Zubin sir (Zubin Bharucha, director of cricket at RR) every day. Was staying and training really well. Support staff like Raj Muni and Yogesh. Zubin sir was motivating me all the time,” he spoke with gratitude.

While the Ranji Trophy final is a very different game from other matches, the stylish left-hander said he firmly believes in performing well under pressure conditions.

“A final is different because you have a very different mindset. People who are close to me say a lot because they want me to do well. They definitely put pressure. To be honest, I can handle that pressure. Glad to have it, I enjoy it,” said the friendly youngster.

“I go out with the mindset that I will do it. I believe in myself and believe that whenever I go out there, I will do well,” he said in a confident tone.

that he is a good student of the game, it became clear when he explained how he and his captain Prithvi Shaw The move by the MP team was understandable, which showed that they would start with a fast bowler and then bring in left-arm spinner Kumar Karthikeya.

“Of course, we knew that he (Karthikeya) would bowl the first over. They were playing some tricks, like some things were trying to disintegrate us mentally, which I have seen them do before.’

“For example, the keeper goes too far back and the fast bowler runs up to the run-up but we all knew Karthikeya was going to bowl because Shaw bhai told me about it. We were really ready.

“We didn’t want them to think we weren’t ready. We had prepared a lot. Whoever was going to bowl, I didn’t care. I just needed to see the ball,” Jaiswal said.
