Sunil Gavaskar was left impressed by Shubman Gill’s knock against the Rajasthan Royals which played a crucial role in handing RR their first loss of the season.

Gujarat Titans skipper, Shubman Gill led from the front as he took charge in the second innings to help his side deliver Rajasthan Royals’ first loss in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League which left even the legendary Sunil Gavaskar impressed.

Speaking to Star Sports the former India batter praised the captain for being able to get some important runs during the chase at a time when he hasn’t been getting much support at the top. He said, “I am very impressed with Shubman Gill because, again, he was not getting the kind of support that he would have wanted at the other end. You want somebody to be there to build a partnership”.

The side has tried several players at the top. As usual, Wriddhiman Saha is not in the playing 11 following the game against Punjab Kings. Sai Sudarshan has been given the responsibility at the top. Gavaskar highlighted the importance of a strong opening stand and how Gill has learned from his mistake by throwing his wicket away.
