Normally the water released from Hathnikund barrage reaches Delhi in 72 hours.
Yamunanagar Deputy Commissioner (DC) Girish Arora told the media on Wednesday, “A team of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) has reached Yamunanagar. The administration is fully prepared to deal with any situation.”
Arora said that WhatsApp groups were formed by connecting former sarpanches, numberdars, chowkidars, block development and panchayat officers and tehsildars for exchange of flood related information in the areas of Yamuna river and other seasonal drains of the district.
An IRWD official claimed that this was the highest level of water recorded in this monsoon season.
The water level in Yamuna at Hathnikund barrage was recorded at 19,852 cusecs at 1 pm on Wednesday. It rose to 50,511 cusecs at 10 am and 1,59,757 at 1 pm. The water started receding and by 3 pm, 1 lakh cusecs were recorded. The rainy season starts from July 1 and ends on September 30 every year,” said Vinod Kumar, Executive Engineer water service division in Dadupur.
