Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij on Wednesday said people who have not received the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine from January 1, will not be allowed to visit crowded public places like restaurants, malls, banks and offices. Responding to a discussion on the calling attention motion in the state assembly here, Vij said the new version of Omicron is a matter of concern as the WHO as well as the whole world is concerned about it.

“We remember the officers and staff, including doctors and paramedical staff, who died while rendering their services during COVID-19. A ‘wall of memory’ has been erected at the health department’s headquarters, which he himself inaugurated So far 28 people of the department have lost their lives.” The minister said that the frontline workers, including the police and the employees of urban local bodies, want such a wall of memory to be built.

Vij said he had conducted a survey in which 30 per cent of the infected people in the second wave of the pandemic were from outside Haryana. “But we saved their lives by providing extra beds. The government built 500-bed hospitals in Panipat and Hisar.” “During the second wave 15,000 infected people were coming daily. Because of the success in vaccination in the country, we are hopeful that there will not be a third wave, but still we are identifying hospitals that can be used in any situation. ” The Health Minister said that he has passed an order imposing a fine of Rs 500 for not wearing a mask.
