Haryana: Schools reopened, but no buses for these girls in Nuh villages. Gurgaon News – Times of India

GURUGRAM: Najma’s school is set to reopen on Friday after nearly four months, but the girl student of Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Penangwan does not know how to reach there.
a special Bus service for girl students The Balika Sikh Vahini was withdrawn in rural areas after the lockdown was announced in April. Now, about 100 girls from villages NoahNajma has concerns in Nagina block. “I don’t want to miss my first class. I want to see my friends and teachers. But there is hardly any public transport facility in my village,” said Najma (16).
While traveling from Gurugram to Alwar via Nuh, several villagers can be seen trying to stop vehicles asking for lift. Some even take some notes to give to the drivers. Some public buses and shared autorickshaws ply in these areas during the day. But most of them use only the main roads.
“We will not send our children here schools Until the bus service resumes. Shared autorickshaws are difficult to find and they are expensive. More importantly, they are not safe,” said Mohammad Ashraf of Maroda village.
The education department has decided to reopen schools for students of classes 9 to 12. But teachers and officials at Penangwan, the region’s largest government girls’ senior secondary school, also agree that the absence of a reliable bus service has made it difficult for students to attend classes.
“We are aware of the challenges. We had resumed the Balika Shiksha Vahini service in January after requesting the administration. But it was stopped again in April. We hope that the buses will run again soon and our Students will be able to attend classes,” said school principal Ajit Singh.
The bus service was started about four years ago but due to the lockdown from last year, it had to be withdrawn several times.
Roadways department officials said that to resume the service, schools in the area would have to make a request and submit the relevant details. “Based on that, we will prepare a route plan based on the number of students. Bus service was suspended in April as schools were closed,” said Pradeep Kumar, general manager, Haryana Roadways, Nuh Depot.
