Haryana: Man arrested for duping Kurukshetra resident of Rs 17 lakh. Gurgaon News – Times of India

KURUKSHETRA: Kurukshetra Police on Friday arrested a local for defrauding a local of Rs 17 lakh on the pretext of sending him to Canada and offering him a role in a film.
Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Karan Goel said that the accused has been identified as Beant Singh alias Preet Aujla of Alaul village in Punjab’s Tarn Taran district.
Beant is currently living in Mohali. He was lodged in Yamunanagar district jail in another case and was taken on production warrant.
The ASP said that Beant was produced in the district court on Saturday, from where he was sent on five-day police remand for further investigation.
On February 18, 2020, Baljit Singh of Sector 13 had lodged a complaint against Beant at Thanesar City Police Station.
Baljeet told the police that he met one Sunil Kumar, who lured him to invest in his company and send him abroad for better returns.
“Sunil arranged for my meeting with Palak Aujla, Beant Singh and Rani Aujla at his office in Mohali. He wooed me by offering me a role in a film and sending me and my relatives to Canada. I paid him Rs 28 lakh in cash. He called my son and relatives to Mohali and took pictures of them with Punjabi artists. However, they neither sent us abroad nor returned our money, Baljeet said in his complaint.
Baljeet said that when he questioned him about the role in the film and sending the family to Canada, the accused told him that due to the high cost of producing the film, it would not be possible for him to make the film at this time. ,
Baljeet said that the accused assured to return the money and returned Rs 11 lakh.
He said that later they did not return the rest of the money and they threatened to kill him when he demanded.
