One of the world’s finest opening batters, Rohit Sharma celebrates his 37th birthday today on April 30. In the last couple of decades, the Indian skipper has established himself as a dependable batter who can single-handedly win games for his team.

Popularly referred to as the ‘Hitman’ by his fans, Rohit’s origin takes us to the Indian city of Nagpur. Born to Gurunath and Purnima Sharma in 1987, a young Rohit developed an early interest in cricket. Rohit made his List A debut in February 2006 for the West Zone in the Deodhar Trophy.

After an impactful stint in the tournament, the Indian opener made his first-class debut a year later against New Zealand in July 2006. Rohit’s debut for India came in 2007.
