Hanuman Chalisa row: Mumbai Court to pronounce Ranas’ bail order on May 2

  • After two and a half hours of intense arguments, the Mumbai sessions court will now pronounce its verdict on Monday. The bail plea had been filed by MP Navneet Rana and her husband MLA Ravi Rana in the case against them over their threats to recite the Hanuman Chalisa outside Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s residence. During the hearing of his bail plea, Ranas argued in court that only having an intent to commit a crime can’t be punished. They said giving a call to chant Hanuman Chalisa outside a mosque, could have fanned religious tensions, but giving a call to chant it outside ‘Matoshree’ doesn’t fan any communal tension. Watch the report for more details.
