Congress will organize press conferences in 23 cities of the country till July 15 to corner the government on the issue of hike in prices of petrol, diesel, cooking gas and many food items. According to party sources, these press conferences will be addressed by senior party leaders and spokespersons and will highlight the “anti-people policies” of the government besides mentioning the difficulties being faced by the people due to inflation.

Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram will interact with the media in Delhi, Kalamnath Lucknow, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge Mumbai and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel in Nagpur. Apart from these, Manish Tewari, Salman Khurshid, Anand Sharma, Digvijay Singh, Sachin Pilot and many other leaders and spokespersons of the party will address press conferences in different cities, sources said.

On the other hand, targeting the government on the issue of inflation, Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said, “CNG, petrol and diesel became expensive just a day after the expansion of the council of ministers of the Narendra Modi government. Today, petrol has crossed Rs 100 and Rs 90 in most cities of the country. Hunger is standing on the doorstep of homes, but the government is not worried about the common people.
