Haldia: At least three killed in fire at Haldia refinery Indian Oil Corporation In West Bengal’s Purba Medinipur district on Tuesday afternoon. Police officials said that 44 people were also injured in this incident.
Three people were killed and 44 others injured when a fire broke out at Indian Oil Corporation’s Haldia refinery in West Bengal’s East Medinipur district on Tuesday afternoon.
The IOC said in a statement that the incident occurred during shutdown-related operations at a unit of the refinery.
It said, “The primary cause appears to be a sudden fire, which left 44 people scorched and unfortunately 3 people died.”
The IOC said the fire has been brought under control and the situation is under control.
A senior police officer in Purba Medinipur district said 37 of the 44 injured were being referred to a hospital in Kolkata.
The condition of seven of them is said to be critical, he said.
