What happened in this case?
May 6:
Advocate Commissioner Ajay Kumar Mishra, appointed on the orders of the court, started conducting a survey of Gyanvapi from May 6 on both Hindu and Muslim sides. On this day only the deity and walls of Shringar Gauri could be videographed. On the first day, a large number of Muslims came to the mosque for Namaz and there was ruckus and sloganeering regarding the survey. The Muslim side had alleged that the Advocate Commissioner was conducting a survey as a party like the plaintiff.

7 May: Survey work resumed in the afternoon. The plaintiffs alleged that more than 500 Muslims are inside the mosque and not allowing them to enter for the survey. Nor is the administration giving any help. After the dispute, the survey was stopped and the matter went to court again.

9 May: During the hearing in the court, the plaintiff side said that the Advocate Commissioner is doing his job properly. Baseless allegations are being leveled against him to obstruct the survey. Videography and verification should be allowed inside Gyanvapi.

May 10: There was an argument for one and a half hours between the lawyers of both the sides in the court. During this, the lawyers argued on the replacement of Advocate Commissioner and the survey of Gyanvapi Masjid. The Muslim side, Anjuman Inazaniya Masajid Committee, had sought time till May 11 to give some more facts along with preparation. The court fixed May 12 for hearing. Also said that if needed, the judge himself will go to the spot.

Case filed in court last year
Five women, including Rakhi Singh, filed a case in the district court of Varanasi in August 2021. It was demanded from the court that permission should be given for regular darshan-worship of Maa Shringar Gauri. Along with this, the matter of security of other deities located in Gyanvapi complex was also raised before the court. Hearing and arguments went on for eight months on this issue, now from April this matter has moved towards conclusion.
