GUWAHATI: Residents of the city formed a human chain here on Thursday to protest against the felling of around 50 trees for allegedly building a new bus.
The protest was held at the iconic Sankardeva Udyan at Bharlumukh on the banks of the Brahmaputra.
The protesters, who gathered in large numbers, were holding placards, which read, “Don’t destroy the environment and trees in the park”, “Stop Occupying and destroying Shankardev Udyan”, “Stop the natural beauty of the park”. will not be allowed” to be destroyed”, among others.
